sharee // nashville portrait session

This week I met with Sharee here in Nashville for a quick portrait session. It was an absolutely gorgeous day! The leaves are beginning to change around here, which made for such a pretty backdrop. And there's just something magical about Autumn light. It seems more golden somehow. I love it!

Sharee is so beautiful (just look at that smile!), and made my job so easy. We had so much fun! Here are a few of my favorites from the session...

Rusty Phillips // senior portraits

Last month during my visit to Maine I got to photograph my cousin Rusty's senior portraits. This was really weird for me, because I used to babysit Rusty every week when we lived in Maine. Now, he's a senior in high school, can drive a car, and towers over me. Time flies so fast!

It was a real blessing getting to do this session. Rusty's dad, my Uncle Rick, was a photographer and he shot my senior portraits back in the day. It was really neat getting to return the favor in memory of him.

We had so much fun during this session! I miss my cousins (and rest of the fam) already.

britney cashman // nashville artist shoot

I've been meaning to post these images for a while...

The other month I had the great opportunity to photograph my dear friend Britney Cashman. Britney is a very talented singer/musician/songwriter and she just recently recorded her first album, so when she contacted me to photograph images for her album cover, I was thrilled!

The day of our session was very stormy and rainy. We sat in our car for at least 15 minutes just praying that we would get a break in the storm. Britney and her husband Jonathan were moving to Florida the upcoming weekend, so there was no way we could reschedule.

And then...the torrential rain stopped! And I thanked God a bajillion times that night.

nick class of 2010 // nashville senior portraits

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to do the senior portraits for our pastor's son, Nick. We had such a fun time during this session!

One reason this session was so great was because I brought along my secret weapon (this reminds me of Fievel's An American Tale where the mice say "Wewease the secwet weapon." Anyone with me? Anyone?) Anyways, my secret weapon just so happens to be my husband ...because he has this incredible ability to make people laugh. And this weapon worked like a charm during Nick's session. Anytime I wanted a laughing smile I would just say to Nick, "Look at Jonathan!" and he would just start cracking up. It worked like magic, I tell you!

Nick plays soccer, so we took advantage of that and grabbed some action shots.

I bet you'll never guess why Nick is laughing in the bottom right image...yep, that's right...the secwet weapon!

Nick is also a talented musician!

I just had to include this last shot as yet another example of how much fun we had. Yep...we even played hide and go seek! It's all about the experience, people. :)

kelsey // nashville, tn portrait session

This is my friend Kelsey, and she and I both share the love for photography. When Kelsey told me she needed a headshot for her new photography website, I jumped at the chance to be the one to take it for her!

It's always fun (and somewhat butterfly inducing) photographing other photographers, because they don't laugh at you (okay, maybe a little bit) when you ask them to do silly things or you're sprawled all over the grass to get that perfect shot. :)

Isn't she gorgeous? She sure did make my job easy! And the beautiful golden sunlight we had that night certainly helped as well.

Have I ever mentioned that I love taking pictures? Yep, it makes me all giddy on the inside. :)
