thorne + laura are married! (wedding invite design, video, random pics, etc.)

This blog is a little show & tell of sorts. I'm sharing lots of little things in this one blog post, so bear with me. :)

This past weekend husband and I had the joy of being in two of our best friends' wedding. Thorne and Laura have been in our lives since the beginning of our college years...first, separately...and then, together. We've had so many fun memories with them and they're both very very dear to our hearts. And, I must mention that my claim to fame is that I was the first to predict their like, then love, and togetherness for each other. :) I remind Jonathan of that often, because he didn't believe me at first.

Here is a little slideshow I put together as a surprise for them for the rehearsal dinner. It highlights lots of fun moments from their friendship, dating, and then engagement years.

*sniff* my how our little Thornie and Laura have grown and blossomed.

Next up, I believe it's about time for me to show you the wedding invitations that I designed for our dear friends. I knew that I would have fun with this design, because Laura said she wanted something whimsical, fun, and incorporated a big oak tree.

So, this is what I came up with...

For Thorne + Laura's wedding gift, I knew I had to do something a little crafty for them. So, I made this little gift bag to put their present in.

I made it just by drawing the letters freehand on a canvas bag with a felt tip fabric marker. The font I used on the bag is also one of the fonts that I used on their invitation design. The little flower pin on the bag was made from stitching pieces of felt together.

As for the wedding weekend itself...I didn't take many pictures...My DSLR wasn't taken out at any point, and any shots that were captured were with my little point-and-shoot powershot. At first I felt really guilty about this...but then I realized that it was nice to just be a bridesmaid and do my bridesmaid duties and enjoy this celebration with our friends. :) They hired a professional photographer to get the professional photographs...and I could just relax.

Now, here are some quick snapshots that I did manage to get last weekend.

After the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and setting up things at the reception site, us girls all went to Waffle House for Vanilla Cokes and a game of Nertz (for my northern friends, this game is like Dutch Blitz only played with normal cards.)

Lauren and Jennifer...I don't know what was happening here. haha!

Amanda and Laura--the BRIDE! :)

Me and Bethany!
We're holding up two fingers because this is the second picture we've ever taken together (yes, we're counting)...not because we're hippies. :)

And here is me with my sweetie at the reception.
He looks so good in a tux!

It really was such a wonderful weekend spent with so many of our best friends. I have to admit, I was pretty sad to leave them...makes me wish we all still lived closer. But I know we're all where we are for a reason...and it makes our visits even that much more special. :)

Congratulations, Thorne + Laura! We love you both so much, and are so happy that you're so in love and get to spend the rest of your lives together.

easter family photos.

On Easter Sunday I had the chance to photograph many of the families at our church, Full Life Assembly of God. The setup was simple with a white background and a couple of continuous lights. This was definitely different from what I'm used to...normally my sessions are on-location and outdoors, but this was a more studio type setting. Even though it was different, I really had a blast with it! Since Jonathan and I are still fairly new to our church, it was great to interact with everyone and get to know some new families we hadn't met yet.

Here are a few shots from that day...

After we were finished with the long list of families to photograph, we couldn't help but take some fun shots with some of our friends...

A special thanks goes to my friend, Kelsey (pictured above right), who helped me stay organized and get everyone in and out in a timely manner. She was such a lifesaver! Thanks, Kelsey! :)

I hope you all are having a fantastic week! My updating hasn't been as often as I would like, but life has been busy and I've come to terms with the fact that it's okay if I don't post something every single day. :)

I'll try to write a personal post soon and maybe even share a picture of Max, because I know you miss seeing his face on here.

Love,

-Tiffany

friday finds: camera cake, felt flowers, and natural beauty.

Hello friends!

Wow, I feel like I haven't written a just-for-fun blog post in a while. I've kinda been slacking in the bloggy world lately.

Life has been very busy lately...but it's been a good kind of busy. :) Lots of photographing has been taking place, and that's made my heart happy. This weekend we don't have a wedding or shoots...or anything, and I'm looking forward to some time just spent with my man (and my puppy) enjoying this beautiful spring weather!

I hope you all will have an absolutely amazing weekend. In the meantime, here are some fun finds I've discovered around the web this week:

I smiled so big when I saw this amazing groom's cake! Click on the link for more pictures of it...it made me smile. :)

A friend of mine recently got married, and these were her handmade felt bouquets made my Princess Lasertron. I couldn't get over how intricately detailed these things were! You should definitely check out her website and see all the pretty creations she makes. She also makes beautiful hair accessories!

One of my pet peeves as a photographer (and as a person) is overly touched up and photoshopped images of people. I'm a big fan of natural beauty, and it makes my heart sad when I see photos of people who look like a plastic Barbie doll. With that said, I was absolutely thrilled when I saw that Jessica Simpson was on the cover of Marie Claire completely without makeup and airbrush retouching! If you look really closely, you can even see little bumps on her skin in this photo. Love it!

And lastly, this theme song video by the Girls with Glasses Show is so pretty and fun...I've watched it at least 5 times now. :)

HAPPY WEEKEND! :)

Here's a little sneak peek from this past weekend's engagement session with Autumn + David. We had such a fun time walking around the park in the gorgeous weather with all the spring flowers in bloom!

emily + jonathan // wedding sneak peek.

This weekend Jonathan and I photographed Emily Kent + Jonathan Martin's wedding here in Nashville. And, oh...my...goodness...what a blessing it was to be a part of this celebration! Emily + Jonathan are one of the sweetest couples I have ever met. Their love for each other and their love for the Lord was so evident in even the short time we've known them.

I'll definitely be writing more on this wedding later, but for now...here's a little sneak peek:

rebecca + joey // married!

A few weeks ago, Jonathan and I had the joy of photographing the wedding of Rebecca Stanley + Joey Bell. Their wedding was on the first day of spring...and we couldn't have asked for more beautiful spring weather here in Nashville.

To start things off, here is a little video of highlights from their day (click on the full screen button for the full effect):

"Thank you for loving me" by Bon Jovi was the song that they had their first dance to. :)

Here are a few of my very favorite images from the day (I have such a hard time narrowing them down!)

The wonderful vendors who made this day possible are...
Wedding Coordinator: Hillary Capes with Your Day of Fairy Tales
Officiant: Ralph Griggs
Organist: James Jordan
Hair + Makeup: Relache Spa at Opryland Hotel
Transportation: Limousines On Call

Thank you, Rebecca and Joey, for letting us be a part of your wedding day! :)
